Underlayment

Underlayment is your roofs first line of defense against water. Which is why choosing the right one is essential for a long lasting roof. We choose to use Titanium UDL25-50 for shingles, Boral TileSeal® HT for tile, and 40 Base Felt Secure Grip for torch on. We also add a second layer of peel n stick underlayment to prone-to-leak areas, such as flashings and valleys. There are variations within these brands, we factor in price and our clients desires to come to a final decision.

Tile

Tile is a bit more expensive and offers less roof protection as a material, which is why it is important to invest in higher quality protective underlayment. Underlayment is the first barrier on a roof and is also used in every other roof material system. Sometimes tiles could be reused, but around 10-15% break in the replacement process. Which is why usually extra tile must be bought when replacing a tile roof. Using light weight tile is recommended for roof, when a bid is being presented we show what options a owner house for their new roof. Tile repairs are always welcomed!

Torch on/Heat Applied Systems

These kinds of systems are used on flat roofs, or in some occasions where two roof panels meet. Such materials are heat/adhesive applied. Torch on systems use a blowtorch with a propane tank that heats a tar like sealant on the underlayment. Thus sealing the roof off from any water, there is another system that uses heat guns. More commonly known as TPO this is at times preferred to torch on as it can last longer and is easier to repair. As you decide what you would like on your roof, we offer many options and give recommendations on what we think is best!
